CIET of NCERT, under the Department of School Education and Literacy, won UNESCO's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Award for the year 2021
The Department of School Education, Union Ministry of Education has received UNESCO recognition for using ICTs under a comprehensive initiative called PM eVIDYA, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. PM e-VIDYA was launched by the Ministry of Education on May 17, 2020, as part of the Self-Reliant India Campaign, which integrates all efforts related to digital/online/on-air education to empower children by using technology. What is ICT?
To use affordable technology to enhance educational opportunities for all, enhance the quality of education and bring equity in the educational system in the country and in keeping with the recommendations of National Education Policy-2020, Education through CIET, NCERT The ministry is working tirelessly and meticulously in the design, development and dissemination of a large number of e-books, e-content - audio, video, interactive, augmented reality content, Indian Sign Language (ISL) videos, audiobooks, talking books etc. ; Various types of e-courses for school and teacher education; Online/Offline, On-Air Technology One Class-One Channel, DIKSHA, ePathshala, Nishtha, School MOOCs on SWAYAM Platform etc. mainly involves conducting digital programs like online quiz for students and teachers.
To further the objectives of National Education Policy and Samagra Shiksha and to address the above pillars, PM eVIDYA – a comprehensive initiative that integrates all efforts and provides multi-mode access to digital/online/on-air education It was launched in May 2020.
CIET's PM eVIDYA program involved active support in home learning for children through extensive, flexible, ethical and consistent use of 12 PM eVIDYA DTH television channels and around 397 radio stations including community radio stations. These efforts were helpful in reaching out to students especially in pandemic situations, when schools were closed. These efforts helped to a great extent in closing the learning gap.
